Localization ensures that universally important bodies of knowledge are related in accessible and culturally relevant ways.

Translation and Localization

Obeikan Education’s translation and localization services give students Arabic-language educational materials of world-class quality. Our professional translators are mother-tongue Arabic speakers with exceptional linguistic and cultural fluency in other many languages. This enables them to accurately translate texts for consistency with the original version, while giving them an authentic local flavor that enhances readability in Arabic and supports understanding.

Additionally, our translators are subject matter experts, which is particularly important for subjects such as mathematics and science that have a unique vocabulary of technical terms; for books on history and culture, which must be translated painstakingly to avoid confusion stemming from differences in author and reader contexts; and for texts that deal with abstract concepts. Three books translated by Obeikan Publishing have won the prestigious King Abdullah International Translation Award.
Obeikan Education Company believes that localization is an interlocking process that includes specific decisions about what should be deleted, changed, or kept from the content to be adapted, and that includes the entire content of texts, ideas, images and graphics. We highly appreciate and consider our clients’ remarks and input. Their role is very significant and they are fully involved in the localization and review processes to ensure the effectiveness of educational materials when applied in their local environments, in line with the expectations and goals of the ministries in localizing experience and transferring knowledge to their specialists from in the curriculum development sectors, which will achieve sustainable development In the implementation of educational projects.
This is achieved through continuous communication between the two teams to ensure the accurate implementation of the scope according to the agreed timelines. Based on our experiences and partnership in localization in our previous projects in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Kingdom of Bahrain, Abu Dhabi, and the State of Qatar, the following aspects will be considered in this process:

a. Educational system

  • We make sure that the standards set by the Ministries of Education are reflected
  •  We consider the study plan when designing the scope and sequence matrices in agreement with the specialists in each ministry.
  • We verify that the updated editions of mathematics and natural sciences chains meet the goals and competencies by maintaining the hierarchy, diversity, and philosophy of the series.
  • We consider class time and the Academic year calendar

c. Local geographical and natural environment

By focusing on the natural and wildlife resources and their diversity, the country’s geographical environments, and relevant statistical information in science and mathematics subjects.

b. The cultural environment and the national identity of the local community

By using situations to suit the local culture in the local community to facilitate the implementation of these educational situations and their comprehension by learners, to achieve the maximum benefit from the functionality of developed educational materials. The educational material is also linked in a balanced manner with the religious, cultural, and social foundations.

d. Pictures and drawings

Pictures are provided based on educational situations, monuments, and local natural environments from each country, as well as pictures of male and female students in the country, to enhance the book’s connection to the local learners’ environment. In our opinion, Localization means being open to the world around us, and not limiting it to the local environment only. Thus, a balance is achieved between focusing on the local environment and the global environments of the learner, which will achieve a higher level of understanding of scientific concepts and principles and a better application of educational materials developed.

To enrich our clients’ journey, we pay attention to:

  • The consistency of the translation process and the localization of the curricula presented with the educational goals of the national curriculum framework.
  • the skills, knowledge, and skills necessary for the stage of university education.
  • the accuracy and modernity in the content of knowledge and skills.
  • the learning styles of the learners through the diversity of educational activities
  • the emphasis on the active learning and the active role of the learner
  • the cognitive structure of the subject, focusing on its function
  • Training and professional development for supervisors and specialists and qualifying them to be trained in implementing the developed curricula.
  • Implementing the interactive e-learning program and supporting the interactive portal.

Technology expands access to education, making it possible for students to learn remotely or on a personalized schedule. Technology can also add an engaging new dimension to in-person learning, augmenting instructional resources for classroom experiences. In the e-context, pedagogy intersects with technical and organizational issues, all situated in a socio-cultural context. Above all, it’s essential that technology-supported learning maintains uncompromising high expectations of every learner.

Using technology in an educationally meaningful way takes thought and expertise, and a interdisciplinary team of subject matter experts, instructional design pros, digital media wizards and hardware specialists.
